2004 Excellence Award hnoree Gabriel Byrne was present at the Brattle Theatre for a special ceremony held in his honor on Oct. 24, 2004. Hosted by Brian O'Donovan (the host of WGBH's popular radio show The Celtic Sojourn) the event featured a career retrospective and a Q&A session with Mr. Byrne.
Mr. Byrne began is career as an actor on stage before gravitating to television and finally film. He is best remembered for his roles in Miller's Crossing, Into the West, The Usual Suspects and The Man in the Iron Mask.
He has also worked as a producer and screenwriter, producing or co-producing among other films Into the West, In the Name of the Father and The Brylcreem Boys. He also wrote the Irish TV film Draiocht (Magic) and co-wrote The Last of the High Kings.
